Whitening teeth has become very popular recently. Everybody wants a gleaming, white smile. There are many ways that you can get a whiter, brighter smile, and we will help you along the way. Follow our tips and you will have the white teeth that you have always desired.

Though it is an uncommon way to approach whitening teeth, the application of fresh lemons can actually be very effective. Rubbing your teeth with the inner part of lemon peels will help to whiten them. This is a simple, inexpensive and fast technique to whiten your teeth. Lemon peels can really whiten your smile, without you having to worry about harsh and possibly harmful chemicals that some whitening of the teeth methods contain.

If the whitening of the teeth strips that must be left on for two hours cause excessive gum sensitivity, use the whitening strips that are only applied for 30 minutes instead. These may take longer to work, but won’t irritate your gums.

Laser tooth whitening is an effective procedure that can produce quick results. Laser treatment is the fastest procedure available for whitening teeth. It is done by applying a bleach and then activating it by shooting it with a laser. Your teeth will look much whiter than before, by up to five magnitudes.

Be cautious if you plan to eat right after a whitening of the teeth session. Some foods are likely to stain your teeth all over again, rendering the whitening you just did useless. Teeth that have been recently whitened absorb stains and colors more readily. After whitening, try to stay away from food and drink that is dark in color. Coffee, for instance, is a fine example of a potentially stain-causing beverage that your teeth will be susceptible to.

You will want to increase the amount of raw foods like fruits and vegetables into your diet. Many fast food products and processed foods promote the growth of cavities and can actually discolor your teeth. If you want healthy teeth, you should reduce your intake of these types of food. Try not to eat at a lot of different times during the day as food will discolor your teeth.

Avoid smoking. The nicotine and smoke that comes off of the burning cigarette can leave you with discolored teeth.

Consider bringing along a travel-size toothbrush when you know you will be eating sticky foods with sugar. Such foods are bad for the teeth, likely to cause stains, and, worst of all, sticky enough to hang around for a while. After eating the sweets, give yourself a quick tooth-brushing. Toothpaste is not needed if you scrub your teeth and rinse them well.

Follow all the directions on your home whitening products. It may do the opposite, irritating parts of your mouth, and even irrevocably damaging your teeth. You should only use whitening products like the directions say.

Although your mouthwash may be excellent for killing bacteria, it could be staining your teeth. If you have to use a mouthwash, find one that is not a bright color and that is not as strong as some of the others.

Whiter teeth can not only help you look younger and more refreshed, but they can give your self-esteem an added boost as well. If you will adhere to the tips we have provided, you will see a positive change in the color of your teeth, as well as a big boost in your self-confidence. A whiter, brighter smile can be yours.
