Be sure to brush every day. At least twice a day is best to brush, preferably after every meal. Spend three minutes every time you brush your teeth to make sure you brush thoroughly. Use toothpaste with fluoride and be gentle. Then, floss once you’ve brushed your teeth.

For older women, a good way to hide the flaws of your teeth is through wearing lipstick. Your teeth will seem whiter when you choose shades of light red or coral. Lighter shades of lipstick have the reverse effect. They cast a yellow tint on your teeth.

It is best to avoid brushes that have really hard bristles. The bristles can cause your gums to recede and open root surfaces. You will also see that your teeth start to become more worn. These can all cause tooth sensitivity, so stick to softer brushes.

Do hot and cold foods cause your teeth to ache? Make sure your toothpaste is designed for your condition and make an appointment to visit your dentist. That sensitivity could mean you have a cavity or nerve inflammation. You need to get these problems treated right away.

When brushing your teeth, brush from the bottom up. This eliminates food debris under the gums so they are thoroughly cleaned. You can scrub sideways, but you also need to scrub up and down.

Your gums and teeth are adversely affected by smoking. Research how smoking can negatively effect your oral health. It’s best to quit asap. Talk to your dentist or to your doctor about methods you can use to quit smoking.

Floss once a day if you can manage it. Flossing eliminates plaque and bacteria between teeth in places where toothbrushes can’t reach. Flossing also has much to do with ensuring your gums stay healthy. You can floss at any time of day, but be sure you’re doing it everyday.

To prevent enamel from becoming eroded, avoid eating excessive citrus fruits or juices, which contain carbonic acids. Brush your teeth immediately after consuming citrus foods and drinks. This will keep the carbonic acid from destroying your tooth enamel.

If you take good care of your mouth, you will not have bad breath. When you care for the health and cleanliness of your teeth, tongue and gums, you are preventing volatile sulfur compounds that cause bad odors. Every time you eat, you introduce new bacterias into your mouth.

If you neglect your teeth, it can seriously cost you over time. This causes damage to your mouth and overall health. Hopefully, you’ll take this advise so that you can avoid this from happening to you.
